I had a recent interaction that involved fingering another female however did not wash my hands immediately after. I did however eat before I realized I had not cleaned my hands. Is this a concern for hepatitis B???

Hi @tayl0rb0y, Hepatitis B is transmitted by the virus in body fluids & blood entering another uninfected & unvaccinated person's blood stream. If you or your partner were born in Australia from 1987 onwards you would have been vaccinated for Hepatitis B as a baby or at school. This would give you lifelong protection.

The highest risk of Hepatitis B transmission is through condomless anal or vaginal sex or through sharing blood. As it was fingering & if any vaginal secretions entered your mouth the risk of hepatitis B is extremely low to be not a concern.

However it's always a good idea to clean your hands before you eat as there are other infections that can make you sick!
