Hey @unknown, I definitely haven’t tried squirting yoghurt in there (I’m not sure if that actually gives relief), but I definitely have had itch before, and it can be anything from simply hanging out in sweaty clothes post-workout too long (sometimes that causes an itch) to having full blown thrush (I haven’t had it for a while luckily). I’ve always paid a visit to my doc to see what’s going on whenever I sense an itch is hanging around too long, however @Nurse_Nettie may be able to share some information on what causes vaginal itch.

Hi @unknown. I’m in the same boat as you and @NickiPower. I’ve definitely had an itch or two for quite a few reasons. When I was on antibiotics, I developed thrush and was incredibly itchy and sore. I tend to get more itchy after exercise, or when I’m wearing tight pants/bottoms, but this goes away.

ALSO (so much itching!) I have eczema and dry skin which can sometimes make my labia itchy – I use coconut oil for that.

I haven’t heard of or tried yoghurt – I usually either change clothes, take a shower to cool off, or use coconut oil.

A gynaecologist or GP is always a safe bet if you have an itch you can’t quite shake. It could be nothing, but always good to be sure! 🙂

i havent tried yoghurt either but was curious if it actually worked

i had a pa smear about 3 weeks ago and it came back clear with no infections so i dont know
im not sure how quick a thrush infection can occur though

Hey @unknown, my thought would be that if you’re concerned about thrush I’d definitely follow medical advice for treatment. The *only* person I have ever heard mention yoghurt in this situation is…. well safe to say, I would never trust their advice.

I’ve had experience with itchiness due to hair removal or dry skin so it’s not always caused by infections. In any case, if you’re worried you can chat about it with a GP or sexual health specialist. They’ll be able to talk you through treatments but you can also read more about thrush here.

Hi @unknown @NickiPower…I think we’ve established that vaginal itch is common & caused for many reasons-shaving, soap, exercise, tight, restrictive & synthetic clothing & skin conditions.  A thrush (candida) infection can occur overnight & causes signs of itch, vaginal discharge which is white & clumpy, redness of the skin & swelling of the vaginal labia. Thrush is also common & may be caused by douching (washing inside the vagina) with antiseptics, antibiotics, pregnancy, diabetes & conditions that effect the immune system.
Did you know that all women have a little bit of candida in the vagina? Healthy bacteria called lactobacili keeps it in check. When the balance of healthy bacteria is lost then candida grows. To treat thrush, antifungal creams can be purchased at any chemist.  If symptoms continue then visit a doctor. There’s no current evidence or recommendation to use yoghurt.

Yes @unknown that sounds like a good plan. Ask if you were tested for candida & tell her the symptoms you’ve described here.

    @Nurse_Nettie

I think i did the wrong thing

Last night doen stairs  was irritated  and i itchy and burning i needed some relief
Ithis was late at night so i wasnt  going to go to the shops.
I was looking for like nappy rash cream or something and found baby oil and used that and  i was so itchy even right  up near cervix  so i squirted some in there

Is that bad. It hasnt made it worse but didnt  relieve it either

    What do i do

@unknown it’s probably best to do nothing & let the baby oil discharge itself for now. Wait for your appointment tomorrow & let the nurse know what happened.

ok so ive been to see my nurse today and my gp also came in but that was for the state of my mental health at the moment.

she took some more swabs to get tested for thrush etc so a couple of days until i get those back

they have told me to use the canesten cream- the suppository one- i wasnt sure whether to get the one day 3 day or 6 day treatment, i thought id just get the 3 day treatment as i see my gp on firday and i can give her an update then as well.
they told me to use it at night which is better for me anyway
they said i can still use it on my period which is lucky for me as ive just gotten it today and night time is when  most i feel the burn and itchyness the most at night time @Nurse_Nettie
and also she said not to worry about the baby oil, it didnt make anything worse for me
